An ideal meal for the South Indians comprises idli, dosa, sambar, uttapam, vada that is even the specialty of their food. South Indian dishes has made its place for itself in each region of our country. Idli is popular to be the perfect breakfast for everybody as they are really light for the stomach & much delicious too. We must not necessarily have to prepare sambar for eating it, even chutney or ketchup goes along with it. Mallige Idli is one of its recipes that is so popular on the menu of South India. The mouth-watering idli is prepared with urad dal, rice and else normally available elements.
Ingredients for Mallige Idli:
Rice - 3 cup
Pressed rice - 1/2 cup
Salt as per requirement
Baking soda - 1 pinch
Sago - 1/2 cup
Urad dal - 1 1/2 cup
Fenugreek seeds - 1 teaspoon
How to prepare Mallige Idli:
Step 1) To make this dish, clean & soak the rice, sago, urad dal, fenugreek seeds and pressed rice into different bowls for two hours. When soaked, place them to the blending jar & blend to have a soft paste.
Step 2) You could also pour a little water to have the expected consistency. When the batter is prepared, have baking soda alongside salt & combine properly.
Step 3) Put this batter at some hot space the whole night for around fourteen hours for the procedure of fermentation. Once the batter is fermented, pour the batter in the idli strands & then steam cook it for ten mins.
Step 4) When done, get away the idlis from the steam & let it come to the room temperature. The Mallige Idli is prepared. Have it with the coconut chutney & chill.
