If your guests are coming over suddenly and you do not have time for making an elaborate meal, then try the amazing and quick Oats Idli recipe that is made with semolina, oats, buttermilk, yogurt, peas and carrot.

Ingredients for Oats Idli:
Oats - 2 1/2 cup
Baking soda - 1/2 teaspoon
Salt - 3 pinches
Green chili - 1 teaspoon
Asafoetida - 1 teaspoon
Mustard seeds - 2 tablespoon
Semolina - 2 1/2 cup
Peas - 6 tablespoon
Coriander leaves - 1 handful
Curd (Yogurt)- 1 1/2 cup
Carrot - 6 tablespoon
Sunflower oil - 1/2 cup

For The Main Dish:
Buttermilk - 420 ml

How to prepare Oats Idli:
Step 1) Clean & chop every vegetable, put them aside. Dry roast the oats into a vessel on a moderate flame for around three to five mins. Remove, cool & grind to a soft powder or coarse. As the oats are done with roasting, place them into a bowl & put aside. Then, into the same vessel, have semolina & dry roast till golden & remove it from the burner. When the semolina is cool, combine it with the roasted oats.

Step 2) Now, place a kadhai on a moderate flame & heat slight oil into it. Have the mustard seeds & allow it to temper for around thirty secs.

Step 3) Have sliced vegetable carrot, green chili paste, green peas & saute for one minute or two. Have this into the oats mix.

Step 4) Mix salt, coriander leaves, asafoetida, curd, cooking soda & buttermilk. Mix finely to the idli batter consistency. Close & put aside for some mins.

Step 5) Pour in the greased idli plates & then steam cook till it's done. Remove & then serve hot with sambhar or chutney.
